Functioning of silicone prostheses

Composition of the silicone prosthesis
Silicone prostheses have a silicone casing and contain silicone gel.
The silicone prosthesis can be introduced by 3 different incisions.
These incisions to realize a breast enlargement will be discussed during the consultation.

DIFFERENT TYPES of silicone breast PROSTHESES

Your wish (if you prefer an incision compared to another) the shape of the prosthesis that you wish (round or anatomical) and your anatomy (small or large areoles, long or short thorax) will be the elements that will make me advise you an incision under the armpit (axillary) or on the lower part of the areola (lower isolar hemi) or under the breast (under mammary).
Each of the incisions has advantages and inconveniences.
Silicone prosthesis by the axillary way

Advantages of the introduction by the axillary way

Short scar, 3 cm is barely noticeable. It’s really in the axillary area at the edge of the hairy area and allows to introduce a round silicone prosthesis. Anatomical silicone prosthesis is not recommended by this way. Indeed the anatomical breast prosthesis shouldn’t rotate. If the anatomical silicone prosthesis is not well directed along the axis the breast will be deformed.
The axillary way is therefore reserved for the round silicone prosthesis, whether this prosthesis is a round or textured silicone prosthesis and that the projection of the silicone prosthesis (medium, high or extra high projection) is possible.

Inconveniences of the introduction by the axillary way

The consequences of increasing the silicone prosthesis are more painful than other incisions.
Silicone prosthesis by the lower hemi areola way
It allows introducing a round silicone prosthesis or an anatomical silicone prosthesis.

Advantages of the introduction by the lower hemi areola way

The scar is very discreet; it will allow the introduction of medium or large silicone prosthesis if the size of the areola is sufficient.
In order not to leave any traces it will be necessary to avoid during the introduction of the silicone prosthesis the friction which could damage the scar. This scar is barely visible at the junction of the clear skin and the pigmented skin on the areola.

Inconveniences of the introduction by the lower hemi areola way

It can entail the temporary reduction of the sensibility.
Silicone prosthesis by the under mammary way
It allows to introduce a silicone prosthesis of any volume and form (round, anatomical).

Advantages of the introduction by the under mammary way

The scar is discreet if the breast is falling (ptosis).

Inconveniences of the introduction by the under mammary way

The scar is visible in case of breast hypertrophy (absent or poorly developed breast). Indeed despite breast augmentation by silicone prosthesis the breast will not fall and the scar will be seen.
How are the silicone prosthesis POSITIONED?
All these incisions to introduce the silicone gel prosthesis do not prejudge the position of the silicone gel prosthesis.
Silicone prostheses by the axillary way
Silicone gel prosthesis can be before (pre pectoral) or behind the muscle (dual plan).
Silicone prostheses by the lower hemi areolar way
Silicone gel prosthesis can be before (pre pectoral) or behind the muscle (dual plan).
Silicone prostheses by the under mammary way
Silicone gel prosthesis can be before (pre pectoral) or behind the muscle (dual plan).
